Although the ageing of our skin is a complex biological process there are two main causes: chronological ageing – the effect of time on our bodies; and photo-ageing – the effect of the sun’s harmful rays.
As we grow older, the amount of collagen, the major supporting protein of the body, diminishes. In addition, the skin becomes less flexible. This means that our skin becomes drier and thinner as the body’s natural regeneration process slows down, and the skin slowly loses its ability to retain moisture.
These effects are further compounded by the harmful UVA and UVB rays in sunlight. These damage the skin by producing enzymes that break down the skin’s supportive structure and so prevent the creation of new collagen.
Successfully restoring the skin overcomes the effects of time and exposure to the sun by stimulating the creation of new collagen. It also aids the detoxification of the skin.

OmniluxTM delivers a totally natural method of light-only skin rejuvenation which uses the body’s own natural processes to help counteract the effects of ageing. Unlike some anti-ageing treatments that work as a result of the body’s response to damage, OmniluxTM stimulates natural processes to rejuvenate the skin.
Because OmniluxTM stimulates cells involved in repair of the skin and increases blood flow, it can be used successfully to enhance and improve other skin treatments.

How Omnilux Works
The various tissues and cell types in the skin have their own absorption characteristics, absorbing light at specific wavelengths. Studies have shown that red light therapy such as Omnilux can stimulate collagen precursors and enzymes associated with cellular remodelling. In a single study using Omnilux reviveTM 91% of volunteers reported visible changes to their skin indicating that even 5 weeks after the last treatment there was still a positive effect on the evaluation criteria. 64% reported a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and a perception of softer skin and 68% reported smoother skin the therapy was well tolerated and there were no reported side effects. No pain was encountered during the treatment regime and there were no reported side effects such as erythema and swelling.
Optimum hydration of subjects skin was seen at 5 weeks post treatment. Mean elasticity measurements showed a decrease in the treated side of the face during the treatment regime.
Omnilux reviveTM and Omnilux plusTM
In a recent independent study, 83% of all subjects reported a softening of fine lines and wrinkles after a course of Omnilux plusTM and Omnilux reviveTM combination therapy. Over 75% reported a marked improvement in skin softness and smoothness.
Digital profilometry supported the subjective responses with significant improvements in skin roughness and wrinkle depth.

Is it safe?

The treatment is not painful, there are no injections involved and there’s no patient downtime. Studies have shown that the majority of clients find the treatment relaxing
How many treatments are needed?
This depends upon your individual treatment regime. Your aesthetician will advise you on how many treatments may be suitable for your particular needs.
How long will the treatment take?
Your first treatment will take 45 minutes, allowing for your initial consultation. Ongoing treatments will typically be 30-minute appointments, during which the light is administered for 20 minutes.
How long does it take to recover?
There is no need for recovery time, and makeup can be re-applied immediately after treatment.
Will the results be seen straight away?
This depends upon the treatment options used. The initial effects you will see are a clearer, brighter and smoother complexion. After the course of treatments have finished you will still see an improvement in tone, clarity and skin smoothness. You will also see softening of your fine lines and wrinkles.

How long will the results last?
This will vary according to skin type and lifeclass and whether you have combined OmniluxTM with other treatments. However, when you have completed your course, it is usually recommended that you have one maintenance treatment on a 4-6 week basis, as this will prolong the results.
